Fatherhood

Off on a sidebar... I posted this without text today... Pretty neat of me huh?

I love being a father. My two little kids are growing so fast. Michael is going to be a little man before I know it, and Gabby is getting more and more beautiful by the day... Where has the time gone?

I think that my biggest concern is that some of the best friends I have ever had are missing them growing up. I am wondering though, which is more important? Having my family see my kids grow up, or having my good friends miss them growing up. You would think with technology the way it is that it would be possible for both to watch them grow up...

I am just wondering though... How much do you share via technology to allow your friends the opportunity to watch your kids grow? My daddy instinct says as little as necessary... My pride says share everything because nothing will happen to you.... Dilemmas... if this is the worst one I face for the next week I really am sitting pretty...

Fatherhood

I love being a father. I am not sure how people can deprive themselves of this incredible joy. It is so amazing to think that I played a small part in creating this beautiful little boy.  I guess that some people just know that parenting is not for them, and that is a good thing; I have respect for them.

However there is a group of males out there that I have no respect for... the sperm donors... Not the kind that go to the sperm bank, those who conceive a child with a woman, and then leave her to play both mother and father to the child. This is never how God intended things to do. God intended for us to be a family, reflecting the love that is the relationship of the Trinity.

I am so thankful that God blessed me with the family He did. My mother and father showed my brother, sister and I what it was to be a family. Things were not perfect, but my dad loved and supported my mom and was the guardian of the family that God intended him to be. What an amazing example to have as a young man growing up. I hope that I am half the father he was.

I realize that some of us were never that lucky. Fathers may have been alcoholics, or  abusive to their children, or their wives. Why? Why is it that men have forgotten their role as protectors and providers for their families? I really wish I could answer that... If I could think up a way to stop it all together I could become a very rich man.

I guess that we should really not be surprised at the lack of responsibility shown as men, for our families and especially the women who are our companions... After all our original father, Adam, failed miserably at his role as protector of the family. Due to his lack of attention to his mission as guardian and provider the serpent was able to get close enough to tempt Eve. Had Adam been doing his job, the serpent would have been dead long before ever getting near his wife...

Women... especially single women... I feel a little bit of pity for you... Working with young men, I see the choices you have as potential husbands and fathers, and I have to just shake my head... Where have all the good men gone? They have not been taught how to be men, and respect women... Perhaps the saddest part is women have come to expect that and they do not demand the respect that they truly deserve... You are worth it, despite what you may be told by your peers and the media... You deserve to be treated better.  If the guy is not going to treat you the way you want to be treated... he is not worth your time...

Somehow we went from fatherhood to here... Interesting... I love the way blogging just allows me to ramble and rant... Good Luck, and Good Night...

Writer's Block

I hate it when I do not know what to write about. One of the best writing instructors I ever had told me to just start writing whatever was in my head, and see what eventually came out. Tonight I am going to have to do that.

I am watching Comedy Central right now. I am not sure why I like it so much. I guess because when I turn it on I know that I am going to get a bunch of mindless humor. Typical lewd and crude behavior, jokes and skits. Tonight there is a guy rambling about birds saying tomorrow they are going to kill two people with one stone... Useless waste of bandwidth and airwaves, and I am probably killing more brain cells watching it than I would drinking a 375 of Bacardi 151.

I used to drink a lot more than I do now. Scary as it may seem to some of you who might know me, I have actually cut back. I still like to drink though. It is one of my favorite past times, I guess. I am not sure why. I think that it relaxes me... or maybe it lets me forget... or maybe it helps me remember... I really do not know. I do know that most of the time I do not get stupid when I drink...

Oh neat, a KFC commercial.

Chad has left us with no choice so the wizard must banish him somewhere.

Mindless ramblings are the most fun times of the year. They happen more often than I would like to admit. A lot of the time my mind is going faster than my fingers can type. Those are the fun times... I have to be able to read and interpret my own thoughts. I am typing with my eyes shut right now. I love trying to do this.

Can any of you type with your eyes shut? It is fun... you should try it sometime.

Oh neat another KFC commercial.

I am sorry about this to those of you who are repeat visitors, but I am just numb tonight. My head is spinning, and I am tired... I think that it is time to go to bed...

This will be fun to read tomorrow...

If I were President III

Taxes... as certain as death. It disgusts me how much the rich pay to the government. The top 5% of wage earners pay something like 55% of the taxes. The lowest 50% of wage earners pay less (much less from what I understand) than 10% of the taxes. Seems to me that the rich actually need tax breaks and those like me could stand to be taxed a little more. That would sure as hell guarantee that I work harder to get out my tax bracket. As it stands, I love getting everything I pay back from the government.

So, here is my solution to taxes... tax the poor and give them an incentive to get out of the lowest paying tax bracket (see President II if you want to know how I feel about welfare). Just kidding...

Actually, I really think that the government needs to get all its income from a national sales tax. If I were president I would work to eliminate both state and federal income taxes and institute a nation wide federal sales tax. I really feel like the current system of taxation is more stealing than anything else. They take anywhere from 15 - 30% or more off the top of anything that I make. Now what exactly entitles the government to that much of my money? I guess that they have to pay for votes some how.

Don't get me wrong, the government has to have money to operate, but does it need 1/3 or more of my income off the top to operate? One would argue that if they were efficient and let private organizations take care of social needs, they could do their job with a lot less. Furthermore, what entitles Bill Clinton to his salary as president for the rest of his life? Hell of a pension and social security plan our "public servants" have, especially when you consider that when most of they serve go to collect social security it will be bankrupt. The one thing they never disagree on or delay is their annual pay raise each year.

I love rants.

I guess when it comes to taxes we have to ask ourselves what the function of government is. Is their job to regulate everything from public defense of the nation to how much water goes down my toilet after I leave a deposit? My answer would be no. The government is there it ensure public order, provide for the common defense of the nation, provide a common currency and possibly to regulate trade within the country and with other countries. Anything much above that and they are stepping on toes that do not need to be stepped on. Our taxes should only cover their basic operating needs with the largest portion of those funds going to those who defend our country (go figure I'm a veteran right).

Why is it that I, a resident of Colorado, have to pay for $500 million worth of public works earmarks (thanks Billary) for a state I never intend or desire to visit? Why should you have to pay for a war you don't support if you don't want to? That is why I would propose a national sales tax. I would limit this tax to non-food items. Utilities would also be off limits to taxation. Those are items that every citizen would get tax free. Any clothes, electronics, vehicles, entertainment items (including dining out) that are not needed to provide for the basic needs of your family would be taxed. You know then that if you buy anything other than needs a portion of your money would go to a program or war that you did not support. As in all business, let your patrons speak with their money.

Other than the federal sales tax there would be no hidden taxes, fees or charges that would go to the government. Simple in theory right?

Okay, so we have tackled immigration, welfare reform and now taxes... What next my dear readers? I will let you suggest the next if I were president thread. Until I get one, I will move on to more interesting things...

Prayers,

Pisio.

P.S. check out my friend "Mr. Nerd's" blog. If I ever decide I want to blog for bucks I will start with some of his suggestions.
